Χιονοδρομικό Κέντρο Καρπενησίου, Karpenisi Ski Center

Perched on the slopes of Velouchi (Timfristos), the Karpenisi Ski Centre is one of central Greece's higher ski areas, set amid the forested peaks of Evrytania. The pisted terrain is short and mostly gentle, best for beginners and improving intermediates, but its lofty elevation and open ridges reward those willing to explore off-piste. The real magnet is the surrounding region: Karpenisi and its stone villages, deep gorges and fir forests draw walkers and weekenders year-round, so skiing here comes wrapped in genuine Greek mountain culture. It is very much a weekend and short-break destination rather than a resort for a full week. High altitude helps the snow, though Mediterranean winters keep it variable.
