The snow centre
Laklouk (Laqlouq) is a modest mountain ski area in the highlands of Mount Lebanon, spread across open, treeless slopes at real altitude above the coast. It has long been known as one of Lebanon's more laid-back, family-oriented ski spots, with mostly gentle terrain served by simple lifts rather than the bigger scene at Faraya-Mzaar. As a Mediterranean mountain area its season is short and unpredictable: heavy snowfalls can blanket the plateau, but warm spells and dry winters cut it short. The upland scenery and easygoing atmosphere are as much a draw as the skiing itself. It suits beginners, families and anyone wanting a quiet Lebanese snow day close to Beirut.
