Mount Hermon is the only ski area in Israel, set high on the slopes of the Hermon massif in the far north of the country. It is a small, weather-dependent novelty destination where the appeal is the rare experience of snow in the Levant rather than serious skiing.

The resort
Mount Hermon holds a unique place as the only ski area in Israel, perched on the country's highest terrain in the far north. It is a modest operation, and honesty matters here: the season is short, erratic and entirely at the mercy of the weather, with many winters offering only limited or intermittent skiing. For most visitors the draw is the sheer novelty of finding snow in this corner of the Middle East, together with the dramatic high-country views, rather than the extent or challenge of the pistes. It functions largely as a family day-out and sightseeing destination, busy on the good snow days and quiet or closed when the snow fails. Facilities are basic and the terrain gentle.

How to get there
Tel Aviv Ben Gurion (TLV) is the gateway, a drive of roughly three and a half to four hours north.
A long road transfer north from the Tel Aviv area up into the high country, best attempted only when snow and access are confirmed open.
Best time: The brief window of reliable cold, usually parts of January and February, offers the best, though never guaranteed, chance of snow.
