Après & vibe

A simple, local village-slope atmosphere in one of Hungary's prettiest river valleys.

The snow centre

The ski and ice facility above the village of Zebegény lies in the beautiful Danube Bend, about an hour north of Budapest on the edge of the Duna-Ipoly National Park. Its wide, gentle slopes at low elevation make it an ideal spot to learn, with a short blue run served by a drag lift and a separate floodlit run for evening skiing. In colder years a natural-ice rink once operated at the foot of the hill, though that is now largely a memory. This is a modest local winter-sports centre for beginners and families rather than a mountain resort, and being so low it depends heavily on a cold, snowy spell. The reward is easy skiing in a genuinely lovely riverside landscape.
